Start Your Business Growth Journey With North Texas Professional Associates

How to get the most out of your NTPA visit.

North Texas Professional Associates (NTPA) exists for members to help each other grow their businesses. To that end, our meetings are structured and business-focused, but our attitude is casual and friendly.

Use this guide to prepare for your first (or next) meeting and make every minute count.

Get organized with these checklists.

Before you come:

  1. We are an industry-exclusive group. Check here for slots that are already filled.
  2. Add the meeting to your calendar. The time is 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. every Wednesday at the Original Pancake House, 5760 State Highway 121, Ste 125, Plano, TX 75024.*
  3. Register on Meetup:
  4. Set aside 10-15 business cards to bring to the meeting with you.
  5. Prepare a 45 second commercial. We recommend:
    • Start with your name and industry
    • Then give your benefit statement (elevator pitch),
    • Say what type of customer you are looking for this week, and
    • Repeat your name at the end.

* Remember, the first Wednesday of each month is online only.

  1. Plan on arriving at 8:00 a.m. We socialize for 10 minutes before the meeting starts so you have a little wiggle room but try to be on time.
  2. When you arrive at the Original Pancake House, make a hard left after the register to find the meeting room.
  3. Someone will greet you and ask you for a business card to update our visitor roster.
  4. Order some coffee or tea or a light breakfast to help support our host business.

At the meeting:

  1. Each seat will have a copy of a spreadsheet with a roster and some other information. You will also receive one before the meeting if you register ahead of time.
  2. The meeting will start with some housekeeping such as an educational moment and membership information. Then we will go into 45 second commercials.
  3. As people give their commercials, circle 1-2 names that you want to have one-on-one meetings with.
  4. Note whom members are looking to connect with on the worksheet so you can connect them later.
  5. After the 10-minute presentation people will thank each other for business and one-on-ones. You can use the opportunity to tell people what you like about the group or what you got out of the meeting.

After the meeting:

  1. Stick around as long as you like to talk with people.
  2. Schedule one-on-ones with the people you circled during the meeting.
  3. Review the meeting on Meetup.

Now, get ready.

That is everything you need to know. Make it even easier by calendaring the next meeting and adding this checklist to the description.

Don’t forget to RSVP on Meetup if you haven’t already.

See you there!
